Biarritz Surf Beaches – Day 6
Saturday 18th July 2009 – France
The Beaches in Biarritz were very rough today due to the bad weather, so there was no surfing happening, much to my disappointment.
I awoke to more rain this morning although I’d had a much better night sleep. I showered, had breakfast, then headed for the beach in the car. A short drive and i was there, at a small car park up the coast a bit. The beach looked incredible and i couldn’t wait to get a closer look.
Had a wander onto the beach, but the clouds came over again, so hastily made it back to the car before more rain. Drove down to the main beach and found a car park that was virtually empty but for one or two dedicated surfers who were waiting anxiously. It was raining, and a bit windy still.
It rained on and off for most of the morning, and i hung around, taking small walks along the seaside, and getting some pictures of the angry sea, waves crashing against the rocks. It was far too rough for any surfing, which is a pity as this is the surfing capital of Europe, and the reason i was here. Anyway, sat and had lunch in the car. By this time it was getting warmer and the clouds were finally dispersing.
It was warm enough now to sit on the beach, and wasn’t long before many people arrived. As the day went on it got very hot and sunny, and a few body boarders and surfers braved the waves. There were lots of beautiful women around. Sun, sea and women, that’s what i came here for, now i was happy.
Came back and showered, played guitar then went to bed. It’s been a nice rest here, and i like this place. I would like to come back here again at some point.
