Finally, Some Good Fortune in Cairns
After nearly two weeks being back in Cairns, looking for work, I find myself looking at the reality of coming back to the UK again. I requested a change in my flight dates, and looked to be coming home in the next couple of weeks, but at the critical moment, good fortune happened upon me, and work was found. Suddenly my trip has taken on a completely new guise, and I can now realistically look forward to much more travelling.
It happened as I walked down the long road my hostel is situated on. It was my last day of looking for work, and I just walked into a a couple of the car rental places, hoping for a slice of good fortune. The first said there was a chance of work in the coming month, the second said no work, but we’ll take your resume anyway. It was the second car rental company that phoned later to offer me a position which I took happily. Even more fortunate is the fact that my place of work is literally right across the street from the hostel I am staying at, so it couldn’t really be any better.
So now I am able to boost my holiday funds again, and hopefully, in a month or two, I can continue my adventure, and see the parts of the East Coast I have yet to see, and after that, who knows! For now, it is just nice to have money again. All I have to do is keep my head down and work hard.
As much as I miss my awesome family, I had no intentions of coming home so soon, and now, thankfully I don’t have to. Here’s to the coming months, cheers!
