Monday 31st January – Sydney, Australia
My last day in Sydney had arrived, and it felt as though the past 2 weeks had flown by very quickly indeed. I was left to reflect on a good start to my Australian adventure. I wanted to make the most of my last day and so a trip to Taronga Zoo seemed like the perfect option.
This is a good question, and one that you probably didn’t think was worth asking, especially as it seems pretty obvious that to work in Australia requires an Australian Bank Account. But you would be surprised, as it may not actually be necessary if you are on an Australian Work Holiday. Let me explain.
Sunday 30th January – Bondi Beach, Australia
It was my best night sleep so far last night with nobody else in the room, and I was a little late in waking up, but I had the best part of the day left to do things, and it was another hot day already. I initially decided to go to Palm Beach today, the place where they film ‘Home and Away’, but it didn’t go quite according to plan.
Saturday 29th January – Sydney, Australia
It was another pretty awful night sleep last night. The guys in my room came back in about 3am and talked and laughed until about 5am, with the lights on. So I was tired and irritable when I awoke in the morning, and this morning I was checking out. I actually couldn’t wait to get out of this place now.
I read an article on a travel website recently, discussing the loneliness of travelling, and somebody commented on this article, mentioning whether it’s a good or a bad idea to have a travel blog. The discussion went further, and people were asking if there was any point in having a blog at all if you weren’t in it for the money. This sparked a debate in my mind and I thought I would offer my opinion.
Friday 28th January – Manly, Australia
Having said goodbye to a friend yesterday as she began her trip back home, leaving just the two of us, we decided to make the most of the day, and to go on a trip to Manly. We knew of a walk we could do around the coast, and it seemed the perfect way to get back into travelling mode.
Thursday 27th January – Sydney, Australia
It was an emotional day today, especially for the girls. One of the girls was leaving today to go back home, leaving the other behind in Australia with me. It was very sad as they had spent a while together, and I couldn’t help but feel a bit sad as well, as we all got on well these past couple of days.
It can sometimes take a lot for someone to actually pluck up the courage and book that once-in-a-lifetime trip, or to experience travelling for the first time, so the last thing you want is for anything to go wrong, especially on your first days. Hopefully I can offer a little bit of personal advice on how to survive your first days travelling.
