As my time time in Cairns draws to a close, I can finally begin the last stage of this journey, before returning to a wonderfully cold English winter. I can hardly wait.

Having finished my job at the car rental place, I now have a little money stored to be able to enjoy myself again. Alas, it isn’t as much as I would have hoped, but enough to experience a few more things, and to create a few more lasting memories.

The past week has been one of my most memorable. Reacquainting with a friend from Port Macquarie, and having a great time with her and her friends has been awesome. We have all had a lot of fun, and it is quite sad now that they have gone back home to New Zealand. I am counting down the days until we meet again.

For now, though, I am trying my hardest to come up with a plan for the remainder of this trip. It appears I cannot go to Perth, as I hoped I could, but instead I might have to go to Darwin and work my way south. Either way I’m sure I’ll have a great time.

Cairns has been a great place for me, and I have loved the weather here. Having glorious sunshine throughout winter is definitely something I could get use to. I have made many friends here, and I shall be sad to leave, but I am itching to get away now and to explore more of this great country. I know I have been here long enough now.

So, after a trip to the reef, and one or two small day trips, I shall be off, gathering more photos along the way. I’m extremely excited now!!
