The Flight Home – Days 79 – 80

15 January 2011 One Comment

Tuesday 14th – Wednesday 15th June 2005

Finally the day had come to go home, and I was happy to be going now. All I had to do was to get through the whole flying home part, then I could be with my family again.

I said my last goodbyes, then boarded the shuttle bus to the airport. Everything went according to plan and I was on the plane in good time. The journey was tedious, and when I arrived at Hong Kong for the changeover, I was already exhausted.

A lightning storm prevented us from leaving the plane for about 10 minutes, and once off, I immediately made my way to the gate for the last part of the trip. The plane was delayed due to the weather, and when we had boarded the plane, technical problems kept us stationary for a while. When we were finally up in the air, I could relax. I slept on and off for the journey and before too long, I was home.

It was great to see my family again, and when I got home, it felt as though I hadn’t been away at all. All in all it was a great trip, and one I shall always remember.

Thanks for this New Zealand diary – it has made me feel like I was travelling through it myself. Very well written, with lots of character and humour. I look forward to your next trip!
